Hamlet Settlement…
A. Brief Description about Hamlet:
Hamlet is one type of settlement types from the 4 settlements in general. Hamlet is the smallest type of settlement compared to the other four. Hamlet is a small type of settlement from the result of human exploration. Many different countries have different definitions and/or meanings of Hamlet. Hamlet can be also called as rural areas as it has a population less than 100. Some hamlets are only small houses, which contain 3-8 people inside. Hamlets are also remote and less connected to the country and the government officials. The etymology of Hamlet is from Anglo – Norman and French words. Anglo – Norman (hamelet(t)e) and Old French (Hamel). In the old English (hām) which in the modern English (home). Basically many countries definition and etymology are similar and has a general meaning of what Hamlet is.
B. Characteristics of Hamlet:
The characteristics of Hamlet are basically small in size and area. This reason is because Hamlet is mostly used for a temporary stay after exploration periods. Other than that, Hamlets are also sometimes for people who has a low economy standard as well as people who need more sense of privacy and quality of life.
The second characteristic of Hamlet is the population. Hamlet has a total population of not more than 100 people. Comparing the population and the area the area could loose compared to the amount of population (population density).
The third characteristics of Hamlets are the simple and usual architecture of their residences or housings. Due to the lack of access to find materials for building, the concept of simplicity is compulsory. The important thing is to construct the shelter in a proper way as well as meaningful. The purposes of each material should be clear.
The fourth characteristic in Hamlet is the surrounding of nature. Hamlets are always secluded/remote from metropolitan areas. They are mostly located in coastlines, mountains, mountain edges, forests, valleys, hills and plain grasses. The environment in Hamlet is always sustainable yet natural.
The fifth characteristics of Hamlet are that Hamlets create and develop their own facilities and resources independently. Hamlet inhabitants do not need help from other parts of the country or even institutions and philanthropists. Hamlet inhabitants are used to finding their own food by hunting nearby and eatable animals. Water is also easy. Finding water is also easy. Hamlet founders always locate Hamlets near water areas so that they can simplify the process of finding water. Other than water, Hamlets conduct their own electricity. In the old Hamlets, the citizens used natural electricity from sunlight and geothermal heat or geysers. In the modern Hamlets, they use solar panels which they constructed or bought.
C. Positive Aspects about Hamlet:
Hamlets could conduct positive values and meanings to many people but depending on their individual point of view and objectives. Here are the positive aspects.
- Hamlets give the best solution for the people who are in search to find the best sense of privacy value, pensions venue as well as understanding the quality of life. With Hamlet secluded and remote from the busy (metropolitan) area there are less and maybe not a single distraction in Hamlet areas.
- Hamlets make the best deals to find land. With no expensive price to buy lands for housings in Hamlets, anyone can make residences in Hamlets. Some areas of Hamlets may also be free because they are out of government control.
- Hamlets have a good environment aesthetically and healthfully. In the aesthetic aspect, the views are very good and still natural. There are no expansions and buildings there. For healthful aspects, there are no pollution and no emissions at all (zero emissions). This makes breathing fine and clear, more oxygen to inhale.
D. Negative Aspects about Hamlet:
-Because Hamlets are really secluded and remote from the metropolitan area, there are fewer facilities or no facilities even. Most of the inhabitants in Hamlets search and find their own facilities and resources by their own. Sometimes could be difficult for the inhabitants to hunt/search.
-Hamlets have fewer social values rather than the other settlements. Because Hamlets are really secluded many inhabitants only socialize with their own clique. Communications are also very limited due to the limited infrastructure facilities in the Hamlet areas.
-Hamlets have really small areas so there are limited spaces for expansions. Outside the Hamlet area is mostly strictly government controlled yet more expensive. Therefore, expansions are rarely made.
E. Potencies found in Hamlet:
There are actually fewer potentials/capabilities found in Hamlet settlement areas. Due to the small area and remote area there are not many potencies found. The potencies found are the seclusion from interference and pollution from the metropolitan and business area. By that reason, we can be healthier in the respiratory system and facial looks. There is also a high sense of privacy value as well as low noise pollution. Other than that resources are highly and regularly available and is prioritized to the inhabitants proportion for daily consuming.
F. Physical, Infrastructure development and Environmental conditions in Hamlet:
The physical condition of Hamlet is very simple, wide and has a high sense of nature. Nature has the highest proportion compared to other settlements. Because of less infrastructure development nature is mainly focused yet prioritized.
There is less infrastructure development in the Hamlet areas due to the remote area. Logically, developers will not develop the Hamlet sites, as they are remote and far from metropolitan areas. The government sometimes consider that the area has no inhabitants and not suitable for living.
Environmentally the Hamlet areas have a really good advantage. The environment really corresponds with nature. There are mountains, forests, and coastlines. The environment is really suitable especially when people are looking towards to have the sense of privacy and pension ages.
The physical conditions of Hamlet areas depend on where the inhabitant settled for the first time. But logically, all new inhabitants will search and hunt for the place where the water source is available. The most ideal is the coastline with hill and valleys. Many of the dominant areas chosen are mountain areas, hills, valleys, forests and many more.
G. Social conditions in Hamlet:
Because Hamlet is secluded and remote there are not many social values there. The maximum social interactions in Hamlet areas are with the cliques. The communication and Internet connections are unavailable and very limited sometimes (to some hamlets). Therefore, connections to other parts of the country are rare. In the Hamlet, social bonds inside their nature are really high and valuable.
